OYB COVID-19 ADJUSTMENTS

OYB Participants,

As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads across the globe and dominates news headlines, your child’s safety is our top priority. Due to the nation’s recommendation for social distancing over the next couple of weeks we will not be having our in-person registration on Saturday, March 21st nor will we have our OYB Tryouts on Saturday, March 28th. If you have needs for the in-person registration, please reach out to us via email and we will try to accommodate you. Alternatives to the tryouts are also being looked at which could be a rescheduling to a different day but could also be move to a different format that would not require the kids to be there. The tryouts main purpose is to attempt to create parity in the leagues. We feel we could accomplish this without holding an actual tryout, so we are looking at that option as well. We will keep you all informed but be assured that every player will be placed on a team and those in the 9/10 and 11/12 divisions will have the practices to evaluate the kids and split into the competitive and instructional teams. 7/8 league do not have tryout so this would not apply to them.

You are all aware that the season start could affected by the virus so we will be looking at all options including a delayed start and a potential extension at the end of the season. We are doing our best to stay ahead of this thing but there are so many things up in the air right now. We will inform you all as we evaluate over the next few weeks.

Online registrations will still end on the Saturday, March 21st.

Please stay safe and keep the kids safe.

Thanks,

Orem Youth Baseball Board
