OYB moves from Innings Pitched to Pitch Count

Many of you are noticing the change in pitching rules this year as we went from an innings pitched to a pitch count. Why the changes? The answer is simple. It is for the health of the kids. We have adopted the Pitch Smart methodology which is being supported by major league baseball. There have been more and more surgeries that were once considered adult surgeries being performed on very young kids and in most cases it can be linked to them over using their arms at a young age. We wanted to make sure you all are informed and have the resources to do your own evaluations. Where we see the most issues is when kids play on multiple teams. We monitor what they throw in OYB but you as parents need to me aware of where else they are pitching. Arm health is something that should be considered by all whether you are a pitcher or not.

This is a great rule change for the long term health of our young players. Here is a great link to the website which contains a ton of great information to educate you.
